Taking the steps to learn to walk again after experiencing loss of leg function due to a stroke
or other neurological disorder
can be a difficult and long process. The Smart Step rehabilitation system advances the patient’s rehabilitative treatments and helps improve abilities at a faster pace.
The SmartStep’s innovative technology
The SmartStep rehabilitation system is a flexible, lightweight insole attached to a small wireless control unit that is worn around the ankle. To collect information, the device records the force used by the heel and forefoot when the patient stands or takes a step.
A graphic display shows the patient’s progress
The data that is collected is sent wirelessly to a computer running the SmartStep software. The software translates the data, providing audio and visual feedback of their progress on a display in front of the patient. This increases patient motivation, improving therapy results.
